Posey Quilts was created out of necessity. One of our owners was making an applique quilt and was frustrated by how long it took to cut out all the tiny little pieces, and gluing them into place – and in the end, it was just an “okay” quilt. We wondered aloud – how could we simplify the process so we could make quilts, etc. we liked but not spend so much time in prep time?
An idea was borne that day – cut the pieces with a laser cutting machine. We have the machine and are currently drafting designs. Our goal is to begin selling laser cut applique quilt kits in early 2019 – stay tuned! Currently we are offering individual letters or names so if you don’t see what you are looking for, drop us a line and we will help you out!
In the meantime I was finishing a lone star quilt on the longarm. Once again, we found a niche – digital quilting designs and patterns for longarmers who have a computerized machine who are looking for designs which don’t fit the traditional patterns. Some are designed for a specific shape such as a circle, etc. Many are words or phrases designed to fit the throat space of a longarm as an alternative to the typical flowers that most edge-to-edge designs offer. We also offer a wide variety of designs which fit neatly in most quilt blocks. The great thing about the block-sized designs are they fit neatly in squares so a quilt made of 9″ blocks with sashing could be cut, sewn, and even quilted in a weekend and you still have a one-of-a-kind gift!
